Taekwondo is a Korean martial art and Olympic sport. It is developed from a number of ancient Korean arts many thousands of years old.
The name Taekwondo translates Way of Hands and Feet. In 1955 the name Taekwondo was officially adopted as the name for the martial art. Taekwondo became an official medal event in the Olympic Games in Sydney.
